Stoparound
Privacy policy
Last updated: 17 September 2026
Stoparound is designed to work without accounts or persistent user identifiers. This notice explains the limited personal data that may still be processed when you use the service.
Controller and contact
The data controller for Stoparound is Dani Lucaci, Spain. For privacy requests or questions, email hello@stoparound.com.
Data we process
- Location and trip data you provide: current device coordinates when you choose to share them, manually selected origin and destination, remaining range, safety reserve, fuel type, consumption and optional tank capacity.
- Search and recommendation identifiers generated for a search. These identify a search or recommendation, not a user, and are used to continue a search, record feedback and measure whether a recommendation led to navigation.
- Technical and security data, including IP addresses processed for rate limiting, abuse prevention and network delivery.
- Feedback you explicitly submit, such as whether a recommendation was helpful.
- Diagnostic data when Sentry is enabled. Stoparound disables default PII collection and strips request bodies, cookies, coordinates, user data, tokens and similar sensitive fields before sending events.
No persistent analytics identifier
Stoparound does not create or store a persistent anonymous analytics ID in your browser. Product events are linked only to the search and recommendation IDs needed to understand a single search flow.
Why we process this data
- To provide the fuel-stop search, route comparison and recommendation you request.
- To allow safe search expansion and keep a recommendation flow consistent for a short period.
- To prevent abuse, protect provider quotas and keep the service secure and reliable.
- To understand aggregate product usage, navigation clicks and feedback so the service can be improved without building a persistent profile of you.
- To diagnose errors and performance problems with privacy-filtered telemetry.
Legal bases
We process data needed to provide functionality you request. Device geolocation is only requested after you choose to use your current location and your browser or device grants permission. Security, abuse prevention, reliability and limited operational analytics are processed on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating and improving Stoparound, balanced against the limited data collected. Where consent is the applicable basis, you can withdraw it at any time, including by revoking location permission in your browser.
Data needed to use the service
To calculate a recommendation, Stoparound needs a starting point, the relevant vehicle/range inputs and, for route searches, a destination. You can type a starting point instead of sharing device location. If the required trip inputs are not provided, Stoparound cannot calculate a recommendation. Feedback is optional.
Service providers and external navigation
These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers are covered by applicable contractual safeguards such as data-processing agreements and Standard Contractual Clauses, or another valid transfer mechanism.
- Railway hosts Stoparound infrastructure and may process network and service data as our infrastructure provider.
- Mapbox receives location/search or route inputs needed to resolve places and calculate road journeys.
- Sentry may receive privacy-filtered error and performance telemetry when monitoring is enabled.
- Google Maps or Waze receive the selected station coordinates only when you choose their navigation link. Their own privacy terms then apply.
Retention
- Recommendation continuation state is held in application memory for about 15 minutes and is not intentionally written to the Stoparound database.
- Place-search sessions are short-lived and normally expire within a few minutes.
- Browser preferences remain on your device until you clear site data; the language preference cookie lasts up to one year.
- Security and operational logs are retained only for as long as needed for abuse prevention, reliability and debugging, subject to the retention controls of the infrastructure provider.
- Third-party providers apply their own documented retention rules to data they process on our behalf.
Your rights
Depending on the processing involved, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to withdraw consent where consent is used. Contact hello@stoparound.com to exercise a right. You may also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) at aepd.es.
Automated recommendations
Stoparound uses deterministic calculations to rank fuel stops. It does not make automated decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects about you.
